45 Vehicles involved in Illegal Mining seized in B’gam, 14 FIRs registered in Feb-March 2025: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the district and seized 45 vehicles used in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals which includes “27 Tippers, 16 Tractors and 2 JCBs” from the areas Bonhama, Qumroo, Chadoora, Badran, Magam, Hard Panzoo and Narbal. Additionally, 14 FIRs have been registered against individuals engaged in these unlawful practices.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police saud that this proactive approach has been taken up by all Police Stations of the district along with the Department of Geology and Mining to curb illegal mining , Stating therein further that authorities imposed heavy fines against those involved in illegal mining.
Stating that actions show commitment of J&K Police to curb illegal mining and preserve environmental integrity in the district Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood, warning therein strict action against the violators as per law.
