2 accused arrested for Illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two accused and seized 02 vehicles for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora area.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Police Station Pampore have seized two vehicles (Tipper) JK13H-0354 and JK01AW-1798 involved in illegal extraction of mineral in Pampore and arrested their drivers identified as Showkat Ahmad Rather S/o Ghulam Mohidin Rather R/o Sambar Bug Budgam and Mohd Yaseen Dar S/o Ab Hamid Dar R/o Khankahbagh Pampore.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 36/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law.
