New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma, a sitting judge of the High Court of Delhi.
The committee comprises Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and Justice Anu Sivaraman, Judge of the High Court of Karnataka.
Following the alleged discovery of unaccounted cash, the Supreme Court Collegium convened a meeting, and the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice D.K. Upadhyay, was instructed to submit a report regarding the allegations, according to sources.
The report was officially submitted on March 21.
The report submitted by the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Varma’s response, and other related documents could be uploaded on the Supreme Court website for transparency, the sources said.
Meanwhile, pending the inquiry, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has been directed not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Varma until further notice, the sources said.
