DC Reasi chairs District Road Safety Committee Meeting

Emphasises timely compensation for affected families

REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik chaired a District Road Safety Committee meeting today to review the district’s road safety measures and evaluate the progress of the road safety action plan.
The main focus of the meeting was on critical issues such as the status of the Road Safety Action plan, reports on road accidents in the District, implementation of the Road Safety Act, signage, traffic calming measures, and the general status of road safety in the region.
During the meeting, the DC directed the Superintendent Engineer (PWD) to ensure the timely preparation of action reports from all stakeholders. She emphasized the need for collaboration among PWD and PMGSY officials to identify accident-prone “black spots” and install necessary crash barriers, road signage and parapets in these locations. She stressed the importance of awareness regarding Traffic rules and regulations among students, drivers and general public on road etiquette, traffic rules and road safety through targeted awareness campaigns.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of proactive approach when it comes to disbursing compensation to families affected by road accidents. She called for efficiency and timeliness in the compensation process, ensuring that affected families are supported promptly in their time of need. Furthermore, the meeting addressed the status of zebra crossings and discussed ongoing reports on encroachments along roadways.
The meeting was attended by SSP Paramvir Singh, ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, SE (PWD), ARTO, Executive Engineers from PWD and PMGSY, CEO, CMO, EO, DIO Info and other district officers. The discussions underscored the commitment of the district administration to enhancing road safety and reducing road-related accidents.
