Srinagar: After a week-long wet spell, the weather improved on Sunday and is likely to remain dry in Kashmir valley.

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said the weather is likely to remain dry till March 25.

Kashmir valley experienced widespread intermittent rain and snowfall during the past week resulting in drop in temperature disrupting normal life.

The MeT office providing the parameters of rain and snowfall during the past 2 hours across the Kashmir valley, said that Konibal received 19.5mm of rainfall, Pahalgam 19.4mm, Gulmarg 16.2mm, Kupwara 14.2mm Srinagar and Qazigund 11.0mm respectively and Kokernag 9.6mm during the past 24 hours. The ski resort of Gulmarg, tourist resort of Pahalgam and Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway also received light snowfall during the period.

Barring Qazigund and Kokernag the minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday remained above normal while the day temperature on Saturday was recorded 4°C to 12°C below normal in Kashmir valley.

The night temperature at Srinagar, recorded at 4.0°C and this was 0.3°C above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season. The day temperature recorded at Srinagar on the previous day was 5.6°C and this was 9.5°C below normal for the day.

Pahalgam had a low of -0.2°C, Gulmarg -3.0°C, Qazigund 1.4°C and Kokernag 1.7°C, the MeT office said.
