Srinagar: A massive fire damaged more than 20 shops in Sonamarg’s main market on Saturday evening.
An official from the Fire and Emergency Services told JKNS that around 20 shops on the upper floor were severely damaged, while at least 10 on the lower floor suffered partial damage.
The official added that as soon as they received the call, firefighting teams were rushed from Gund, Kangan, Ganderbal, and Nowshera, Srinagar.
“We tried our best to control the blaze, fire fighting operation is still underway, complete figure of damage to property will be clear after operation completes,” the official said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been initiated. (JKNS)
