New Delhi: As the BJP seemed all set to form the government in Delhi after 27 years, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Arvind Kejriwal, saying the people of Delhi have destroyed “the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ of lies, deceit and corruption and have made Delhi AAP-Da free.”

His remarks came as the BJP won/led in 48 seats, and AAP 22 in the 70-member Delhi Assembly where counting of votes was underway.

“Delhi has taught a lesson to those who break promises and make false promises to the people .This is the beginning of a new era of development and trust in Delhi” Shah said.

Continuing his attack against AAP and its top leader, Shah said, “The rule of lies has ended in Delhi… This is the defeat of arrogance and anarchy. This is the victory of Delhiites’ faith in ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ and Modiji’s vision of development”.

In a series of tweets on X , Shah thanked the people of Delhi for the “massive mandate” and wrote “Under the leadership of Modiji, BJP is determined to fulfill all its promises and make Delhi the number 1 capital of the world.”

“Delhiites have shown that the public cannot be misled by repeated false promises. The public has responded to the dirty Yamuna, dirty drinking water, broken roads, overflowing sewers and liquor shops open in every street with their votes” he added.

BJP had won the Delhi Assembly polls in 1993, but lost power to the Congress in 1998. Since then the saffron outfit has been in the wilderness in the prestigious Union Territory, which comprises the National Capital Region. UNI
