Prez, PM Modi and other Union minister pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat on his 77th death anniversary.

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Manohar lal Khattar, MoS Defence Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defence Staff, and Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force were also present on the occasion and paid tribute to ‘Father of Nation’

India today observes Martyrs’ Day every year on January 30 to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to honour his contribution towards the freedom of the country.

Earlier, taking to X, PM Modi said, “Tributes to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. His ideals motivate us to build a developed India. I also pay tributes to all those martyred for our nation and recall their service as well as sacrifices.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Shah stated that his thoughts towards cleanliness, self-reliance and empowerment of rural India will continue to inspire the countrymen.

“On behalf of the grateful nation, I pay my tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the leading figure of the Indian freedom movement, who popularized the Indian values of truth, non-violence and fight against injustice across the world, on his death anniversary. Mahatma Gandhi strengthened the freedom movement by binding the country in the thread of unity. His thoughts towards cleanliness, self-reliance and empowerment of rural India will continue to inspire the countrymen,” Shah posted on X.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda, and BJP President also paid tributes to Gandhi.

“I pay my tributes to the eternal worshipper of truth and non-violence, the great leader of the Indian freedom movement, the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary” he wrote on X.

“Bapu’s ideas centered on Swadeshi and self-reliance are paving the way for a self-reliant and developed India. His life ideals will always inspire the entire humanity” he said.
