Police seize Eight Vehicles in Crackdown Against Illegal Mining in Srinagar

Srinagar: Srinagar Police have launched a fresh crackdown against illegal mining in Panthachowk, seizing eight vehicles involved in the unlawful transportation of mining material.

A police spokesperson in a statement issued to news agency JKNS said that raids were carried out as part of an ongoing operation against the mineral mafia. “Police Station Panthachowk seized eight vehicles ferrying illegal mining material,” the spokesperson said.

Following the action, cases under FIR Nos. 10/25, 11/25, and 12/25 under Section 223 of BNS have been registered at Police Station Panthachowk, and investigations have been initiated.

J&K Police have urged the general public to support efforts against illegal mining to protect the environment. “If anyone is found involved in such activities, they should report it to the nearest police station or dial 112,” the statement reads. (JKNS)
