Police arrests 2 drug peddlers in Srinagar; contraband substances recovered from their possession

Srinagar: Police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Srinagar.

A police team of Police Post Urdu Bazar at a checkpoint established at Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar arrested a drug peddler namely Owais Mushtaq Dar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar resident of Sheikh Mohalla, SR Gunj.
During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Maharaj Gunj and investigation set into motion.

During the course of the investigation, while working on the forward linkages, another drug peddler namely Momin Bilal Kanu son of Bilal Ahmad Kanu resident of Banday Kocha, Maharaj Gunj was identified.
During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession.

Both the accused persons have been arrested and further investigation into the case is going on.

We urge the public that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that J&K Police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
