National Voters Day celebrated at Distt. Courts of Srinagar, B’pora , Shopian

Srinagar: 15th National Voters Day was on Saturday celebrated at District Court Complexes of Srinagar, Bandipora and Shopian to commemorate the foundation of the Election Commission of India in 1950.
The objective of the day is to raise awareness of the value of voting in a democracy and promote active engagement in the election process.
The theme for the year 2025 National Voters Day, ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ is dedicated to voters and conveys individuals’ feelings and aspirations toward participation in the electoral process through the power of their vote.

At Srinagar, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar organized an awareness programme on National Voters’ Day at Ahata Waqar, Chanapora Srinagar.The event was held under the chairmanship of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA Srinagar/Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and under the supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak.The programme aimed to raise awareness among senior citizens about the importance of voting and their active participation in the democratic process.The event featured interactive sessions led by officials from Health and Medical Department, para-legal volunteers of DLSA Srinagar who emphasized the pivotal role of senior citizens in shaping the nation through informed voting.The speakers highlighted the constitutional rights and duties of voters and the significance of electoral participation in strengthening democracy. The audience was also educated on the accessibility measures introduced to facilitate senior citizens in the voting process, ensuring their inclusion and convenience.The programme concluded with an engaging discussion, where the attendees shared their insights and experiences, further enriching the dialogue on voter awareness.

At Bandipora, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora organized a legal awareness programme on National Voters Day. The event was held under the chairmanship of Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman DLSA Bandipora and under the guidance of Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon, Secretary DLSA Bandipora. Speaking on the occasion, Tasleema Jan, (Panel Lawyer) TLSC Sumbal said that National Voters’ Day is celebrated to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process. The programme was attended by, PLVs, Staff members & students of the said institutions and other society members.

At Shopian, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian on Saturday organized National Voters Day at District Court Complex Shopian. The function was presided over by the Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary who also read pledge to the participants. The Chairman DLSA Shopian enlightened the audience about the importance of vote and how our vote can shape the future of the country. The program was attended by Secretary DLSA Shopian, Mudasar Farooq; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sheikh Gowhar Hussain; Munsiff/JMIC Shopian, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Shopian, Deputy LADC, Bar President, Court Staff, DLSA Staff, PLVs, litigants and the general public.
