Srinagar: Two people lost their lives due to asphyxiation in Srinagar’s Qamarwari area on Sunday, officials said.
The duo, labourers, residents of Kalaroos in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district were staying in a rented room at Qamarwari died due to suffocation, police said.
They said during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday “kangri” (fire pot) the duo used for heating purpose under their quilt fell and triggered smoke in the room causing death to both due to asphyxiation.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Yousuf and Parez Ahamd Khan whose bodies were taken to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) for medico legal formalities, they added.
