Prof. Umesh Rai re-appointed as VC Jammu University

Jammu: Professor Umesh Rai has been re-appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu. The decision was announced by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who serves as the Chancellor of the university.

According to an official order, a copy of which lies with the news agency JKNS, Prof. Rai will continue to lead the institution for another three years, starting from April 5, 2025, upon the completion of his current term. The re-appointment has been made under Section 12(5) of The Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969.

“In exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 12 (5) of The Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, I, Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, University of Jammu, hereby re-appoint Prof. Umesh Rai as the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, for a term of three (03) years w.e.f. 05.04.2025, the date of completion of his existing term as the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu,” the order reads.—(JKNS)
