Kashmir’s Gardens & Parks to Feature Theme-Based Ornamental Flora to Boost Tourism: Dir Floriculture

Srinagar: As to boost sustained tourist flow to gardens and parks, Director Floriculture Kashmir, Shakeel Ahmad Rather while visiting various gardens and parks today directed the officers for plantation of theme based ornamental flora.

While planting lavender plants in Badamwari, Director Floriculture remarked that the department is setting up a lavender section in the garden so that after Almond bloom is over visitors can enjoy the hues and fragrance of lavender. This will increase tourist footfall to the garden.

He also directed officers there to establish sections of different plants which will have varied bloom periods across different seasons. He further apprised that setting up of a large lavender section will be replicated in Botanical Garden Srinagar also.

Director Floriculture added that the theme based sections in the gardens will ensure sustained tourist flow to the gardens and parks and will enable the visitors to have a good and varied experience of ornamental flora of Kashmir.—(JKNS)
