Inquiry ordered into alleged medical negligence at district hospital Handwara

Kupwara: Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the death of Ab. Hamid Sofi, son of Gh Rasool Sofi, a resident of Arampora, Drugmullar who allegedly passed away due to medical negligence at the District Hospital Handwara.

According to an official order a copy of which lies with the news agency JKNS reads, the incident gained attention after reports surfaced on social media, prompting concerns about the circumstances of death.

It reads as, to ascertain the facts, an inquiry committee has been constituted, led by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kupwara. “The committee includes Dr. Mubashir, MD Physician from SDH Sogam, and Dr. Gulzar, MS General Surgery from SDH Kupwara.”

“The team has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit its findings, along with specific recommendations to fix responsibility, within seven days,” reads the order copy.

It also reads, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Handwara has been tasked with facilitating the committee to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation. Further updates are awaited as the inquiry progresses.—(JKNS)
