Doda: To address the growing issue of traffic jams in Doda Town, especially in the market area, restrictions have been imposed under Section 163 BNSS concerning the movement and parking of vehicles.

“Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, Additional District Magistrate of Doda, has ordered these restrictions to ease congestion and ensure smooth traffic movement,” reads the details shared in the order copy which lies with the news agency JKNS.

It reads as the decision follows complaints from multiple delegations highlighting the difficulties caused by improper parking. It has been observed that many private and commercial vehicles are parked along congested roads, exacerbating the problem and impeding emergency services such as ambulances and fire tenders.

It also reads as key restrictions are as follows: vehicles are prohibited from parking on specific routes except in designated parking areas or temporary bus stands, like the tourism building near Maruti Showroom to Old Bus Stand via Clock Tower.

Old Bus Stand to ‘Y’ Junction (Bharath-Ghat road junction), and ‘Y’ Junction to Abdul Ahad Natnoo’s house in Ward No. 13, and ‘Y’ Junction to GDC Chowk via Nagri Doda.

Also, J&K Bank Branch Nagri to Hospital Road via Circular Road, and Clock Tower to District Police Lines Gate Doda via Dessa Road.

“Buses and metadors must park on only one side of the permitted roads. Auto rickshaws and load carriers must park only in their designated stands. These measures will come into effect immediately to reduce the traffic issue in Doda and ensure public safety and convenience,” reads the order.—(JKNS)
