Finance Minister moves Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday moved the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha.

The Finance Minister said that the bill proposes a total of 19 amendments in five banking Acts – Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the State Bank of India Act, 1955, the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970 and the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertaking) Act, 1980, which are important to protect the interests of depositors and investors.
