Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Insurgency Kashmir (CIK) on Wednesday said that it detained a youth pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) degree, as he was on the verge of joining militant ranks.

A statement said that CIK reliably learnt that Bhat Navidul Ali a resident of Tazipora Mohammadpora Kulgam district, presently pursuing M.Sc. in Lab Science was misusing social media for radical propaganda, aimed at to instigate common people against the Government of India and also glamorizing terrorism in J&K.

“It was also learnt that he is about to join terrorist ranks. On receipt of the information, a special team of CIK apprehended Bhat Navidul Ali for questioning,” the statement said, adding the parents and respectables of his neighbourhood have been called for counselling.

The police appealed to the youth of Kashmir to refrain from involving in such illegal activities and parents have been advised to keep a close watch upon their wards so that the youth does not fall in the trap of such enticements.
