Overwhelming participation seen for National Harmony & Unity
SHOPIAN, OCTOBER 29: In prelude to the National Unity Day, which is being celebrated on October, 31 every year in honour of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a Run for Unity was today held jointly by District Administration and District Police.
The run saw an overwhelming response from the public and officials who converged at Amusement Park Padpawan to take part in the Mini Marathon, which was flagged-off by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.
From Padwapan, the Unity Run traversed the historic Mughal Road, along the Rambaira and culminated at the Helipad Shopian, where DC addressed the gathering.
The event is dedicated to promote national unity and reaffirm commitment to national integrity and social harmony, and it reminds us of the valuable sacrifices made by the people for the integration of the country, DC said on the occasion.
ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, Additional SP, Tehsildar, Shopian and all district and sectoral officers and police were present.
