SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13: General Observer, Rajan Vishal today visited Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and Media Centre Srinagar, operating from DC office Complex, here and oversaw their functioning.

The General Observer stressed that Social media is the new and never ending domain, and the need is to ensure equal concentration on it and not miss any issue that may have serious consequences. He also emphasized to remain on-board across all social media platforms for wide surveillance.

During the visit, the Observer checked the duty roaster, weekly google sheet submitted for suspected and confirmed cases of paid news and daily reports of various forms of media.

The Nodal Officer MCMC and Media Centre, Ahsan Ul Haq Chishti briefed the Observer regarding the overall functioning of the Committee and Centre. He informed that separate teams are on the job to monitor all forms of media to flag-off the paid news, advertisements, misinformation and disinformation.

He also apprised about mechanism put in place for hassle free pre-certification of political advertisements across various media platforms, including TV, radio, etc.

In addition to monitoring advertisements, Chishti informed that the Media Centre is tasked with providing real-time election-related information to the public, media and other stakeholders. This ensures that all developments during the election process are effectively communicated and accessible.

The General Observer stressed the importance of effective monitoring throughout the election period, ensuring transparency and smooth conduct of the electoral process.
He was accompanied by ADC Srinagar, Khalid Hussain and other Officers and officials.
