Srinagar, 13 Aug: Maroof Khan, a prominent figure in Jammu & Kashmir, has made a strong appeal to the government to increase the number of drug rehabilitation centers across the region. Recognizing the alarming rise in drug abuse, Khan stressed the urgent need for enhanced facilities to aid those struggling with addiction.

Khan also emphasized the critical role of community-level interventions in tackling the drug menace. He proposed that, in addition to opening more rehabilitation centers, the government should focus on establishing local counseling facilities at the grassroots level. “If we can place psychiatrists in local dispensaries, where they can provide regular counseling and support, it would have a significant impact on preventing drug abuse and helping those already affected,” Khan suggested.

In his statement, Khan called for collective action, urging not only the government but also the general public to come together on a common platform. “The fight against drug abuse is not just the responsibility of the government; it is a battle that requires the active participation of every citizen. We must unite for the betterment of our society and work together to eradicate this menace from our communities,” Khan stated.

He further highlighted that the growing drug problem is a significant threat to the youth and the future of the region. “Our youth are the backbone of our society, and we cannot allow this menace to destroy their lives. By opening more rehabilitation centers, placing psychiatrists in local dispensaries, and creating awareness, we can provide them with the support they need to lead healthy, productive lives,” he added.

Maroof Khan’s call to action has resonated with many, sparking discussions on the need for a more coordinated approach to address the drug crisis in Jammu & Kashmir. His appeal is expected to galvanize support from various quarters, pushing for the swift implementation of measures that will help curb the spread of drug abuse in the region.
