Police register case against alleged sexual assault on minor student in Srinagar

Srinagar — Srinagar police on Tuesday said that it has taken cognizance of a sexual assault on a minor student at a private school in the city.

On Monday, reports said a minor student of a private school been subjected to physical and sexual assault by his classmates. The student was threatened that he should be subjected to more harassment if he talked about the assault to anyone.

Upon the investigation by the school authorities, reports said that the allegations made by the student turned out to be true.

In the late afternoon on Tuesday, Srinagar police said that upon receiving the information by the administrative authority of a particular school regarding the sexual assault on a minor student, they have registered a case FIR 44/2024 under the relevant sections of POCSO Act.

“Case FIR 44/2024 under relevant sections of POCSO Act stands registered at PS Kothibagh & investigation has been taken up,” police said.
