The Kashmir Advocates Association has formally petitioned the Registrar General of the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, requesting an extension of the deadline for filing applications for the District Judge vacancies. The current deadline for submission is set for June 23, 2024.

Concerns have arisen among eligible aspirants and advocates due to the impact of several holidays, including the recent Eid festival, which have impeded their ability to procure essential documents such as experience certificates within the stipulated timeframe. These holidays have posed logistical challenges, hindering candidates from completing necessary preparations to meet the application requirements.

In response to representations received from numerous eligible aspirants, the Kashmir Advocates Association has emphasized the necessity of accommodating these constraints by extending the application deadline. The association underscores the importance of ensuring a fair and inclusive recruitment process that allows all eligible candidates adequate time to compile and submit their applications effectively.

The extension request seeks to address the practical difficulties faced by prospective applicants, thereby promoting equal access and opportunity in the application process for these esteemed judicial positions.

The decision regarding the extension request now rests with the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Stakeholders await further developments as the judiciary considers the petition and evaluates the feasibility of extending the application deadline.

As the legal community and aspiring candidates await a decision, the Kashmir Advocates Association remains committed to advocating for a transparent and accessible selection process that upholds the principles of fairness and equity.
