KUPWARA, APRIL 8: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, Mission Vatasalya through its Child Welfare Committee Unit Kupwara today conducted an Awareness programme about Prohibition of Child Marriage under Child Marriage Act, 2006 at Alexandera Secondary School Kupwara.

Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Unit Kupwara, Abdul Rasheed Malik members of the Committee, students and staff participated on the occasion.

During the programme, the participants were sensitized about the demerits of early childhood marriage and its prohibition under the law. It was informed that anybody having information about the child marriage can report the same to police and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer who can take action under the provisions of law. It was also informed to the participants that if there has been any instance of child marriage, a decree for nullity of the same can be sought from District Court.

Later, an interactive session was also held in the School during which the Students interacted with the experts and cleared their doubts.
