March 25:`In continuation to war against drugs, Police in Ganderbal apprehended a drug peddler alongwith huge consignment of Psychotropic Substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora.
On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, a routine checkpoint was laid at Kulpora road near Crossing by the Police Party of PS Safapora led by SHO PS Safapora. One suspicious person coming from Sumbal towards Safapora, after seeing police party tried to flee from the spot, however the said person was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Feroz Ahmad Khanday son of Gh Mohd Khanday resident of Qamarwari Bund A/P Shalteng, Srinagar. During search, 100 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 06/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Safapora & further investigation has been initiated.
