World Diabetes Day observed at DH Ramban

RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 14: World Diabetes Day was observed by the Health Department at District Hospital Ramban here under the aegis of the District Administration Ramban.

Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent, Dr Virender Trisal said that the theme for World Diabetes Day 2023 is ‘Access to diabetes care’ which will emphasise the importance of equal access to essential care and treatment for diabetes.

The MS advised the staff to spread awareness about causes, prevention tips for diabetes as paramedics can play a crucial role in supporting diabetic patients. He said lack of awareness being the prime reason, one in two adults with diabetes remain undiagnosed as per a study.

India is known to be the diabetes capital of the world. According to the World Health Organization, 6% of the world’s population has diabetes. Screening session was conducted; and required treatment and remedies were also suggested to patients.

Doctors, Paramedical Staff, ASHA workers and patients attended the awareness programme.
