Karnah Kupwara : In a laudable joint effort, the annual medical camp orchestrated by Rashtriya Bal Swaasthya Karyakaram (RBSK) and the Mid Day Meal Scheme at Higher Secondary School Tadd has significantly enhanced the well-being of students aged 0-18 years.
Approximately 150 students underwent thorough check-ups, focusing on the 4Ds – Defects at Birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, and Development Delays. The diligent medical professionals conducted comprehensive health assessments, promptly identifying potential issues. Noteworthy on-the-spot treatments, including Haemoglobin Estimation, were administered, ensuring immediate care for students.
This collaborative initiative has garnered praise from both locals and students, emphasizing its crucial role in improving the overall health and well-being of the younger generation. The annual visit stands as a pivotal preventive measure, emphasizing early detection and intervention for a healthier student community.
The extension of this initiative to far-flung, snow-bound areas is particularly commendable, addressing health needs in challenging geographical regions.
Beyond the annual camp, these dedicated teams conduct screenings for government and government-aided school children, with biannual screenings for children at Anganwadi centers. Identified cases in need of further treatment are referred to specialized healthcare facilities, ensuring comprehensive care.
In addition, Rashtriya Bal Swaasthya Karyakarm (RBSK) has been implemented to address adolescent health issues. Established clinics provide treatment and counseling for adolescent children, and regular iron and folic acid supplements are distributed to students from grades one to twelve, further promoting holistic health among the younger population.
