The phrase “Meri Maati Mera Desh” is a reminder that our duty goes beyond mere ownership. Its primary objective is to pay tribute to the courageous freedom fighters and heroes who selflessly gave their lives for the nation’s cause and to establish an ‘Amrit Vatika’ in Delhi, an ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ is being conducted, involving the collection of soil from every corner of the country in 7500 urns.
As part of the closing ceremony of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” about 20,000 volunteers are reaching Delhi on 28.10.2023, 29.10.2023 and 30.10.2023 by 23 special trains at the various stations of NCR/Delhi area i.e. New Delhi, Old Delhi, Delhi Cantt., Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi Safdarjung, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Gurgaon Railway Stations carrying the Mitti Kalash. Ten special trains have already arrived till 6 pm today.
Delhi Division of Northern Railway and Ministry of Culture had made elaborate arrangements to welcome the volunteers. Kiosks/Helpdesks had been set up at the stations to guide the volunteers deboarding at the stations. Banners of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign were also displayed at the stations. Mitti Anthem was played on the public address system/ screens at the stations.
