Educational Institutions organise host of activities across Jammu region amid I-Day Celebrations

As part of the ongoing ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, a host of programmes are being held in all government and private Educational Institutions of Jammu region.

Educational Institutions in Doda organised Tiranga rallies/ Panch Prana pledges/ diya making competitions, homage paying events, plantation and other scheduled activities under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign.

GDC Vijaypur: The NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) and Eco Club (GREEN WARRIORS) of GDC Vijaypur organised a mega plantation (Vasudha Vandan) and cleanliness drive in and around the college campus. A mega Plantation drive was also launched to plant 75 saplings of indigenous plant species to make the college campus green and pollution free.

GCW Gandhi Nagar: The NSS Units and Department of Botany at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu spearheaded the “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” campaign by conducting a grand plantation drive(Vasudha Vandhan) and pledge ceremony.

The day commenced with a ceremonial tree plantation, symbolizing the growth of a shared vision for a cleaner and greener nation. NSS Programme Coordinator Prof Mala Bhasin, NSS POs Prof Sugandha Mahajan(Unit 1), Prof Anupama Sharma(Unit 2), NSS volunteers planted a variety of indigenous trees, enhancing the biodiversity of the campus and its surroundings that will ultimately lead to creation of AMRIT VATIKA of 75 indigenous plants.

The students, faculty members, and attendees also took Panch Pran to preserve the environment, and promote sustainable practices in their daily lives.

GDC Udhampur: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Committee (AKAM) of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur organized a Poster making competition on the topic “Veeron ka Vandan” in collaboration with the Department of Music, under the aegis of Meri Maati Mera Desh and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan congratulated the winners and appreciated the organizers for hosting this wonderful event to pay a tribute to our national heroes.

In all 20 students participated in the poster making competition and made beautiful posters on the given theme.

GGZMD Reasi: NSS & NCC Units of Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi hosted the “Panch Pran ” Pledge under Meri Mati Mera Desh Program. About 100 male and female NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took the Panch Pran Pledge along with the college Principal and other teaching and non-teaching staff members.

GDC Ukhral: As part of the series of activities being organized under the banner of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ukhral, in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club and Indian Army 12 RR Ukhral Post, organized a ‘Panch Pran’ Pledge ceremony to highlight the five Principles to make India Developed and self-reliant nation.

Principal, Prof. Shallu Samyal, Major from Indian Army, teaching, non-teaching staff, students and NSS Volunteers of the college participated in the pledge ceremony. The Pledge was read in both English and Hindi.

GDC Poonch: NSS Unit of Shri Krishan Chander Govt. Degree College Poonch organized a series of activities in connection with ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ under the supervision of Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal of the college.

The College organised “Meri Mati Mera Desh Competition” in which a large number of NSS Volunteers participated and made different items of Mud (Mitti).

In all, 65 NSS Volunteers of all the NSS Groups participated in the model making competition (MATI KO NAMAN). Red and Blue House got 1st position, White and Yellow House got 2nd position whereas the Green House got 3rd position respectively.
