On the eve of 76th Year of Independence, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today organised a one-day programme to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, here.
On the occasion, DDM NABARD, Rouf Zargar highlighted the contribution of NABARD vis-à-vis boosting the rural economy by providing undivided attention and pointed focus to credit related issues linked with rural development.
LDM Kulgam, Parvez Rashid was the special guest on the occasion and officers from line departments and banks participated in the programme.
Speaking at the event, the DDM NABARD highlighted various initiatives of NABARD to promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development through participative financial and non-financial interventions, innovations, technology and institutional development for securing prosperity.
He mentioned about the efforts of NABARD to energize rural credit, empowering women by SHG programme, skill development and livelihood programmes for women and rural youth, development of rural infrastructure through RIDF projects, timely and hassle free institutional credit to farmers through KCC at concessional interest, implementation of watershed/springshed projects and FPOs.
Zargar also gave details about skill development initiatives of NABARD and bank aided projects on technology transfer and various initiatives/ programmes implemented by NABARD in UT of Jammu & Kashmir and in district Kulgam in particular.
