Secretary Health visits Udhampur, inspects works on ongoing projects

Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar today conducted extensive tour of district Udhampur and took stock of works on major ongoing projects of the district including construction of new Government Medical College here.

The Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Director Coordination new Medical Colleges, Joint Director Planning, H&ME, Chief Medical Officer besides officers of executing agencies during the visit.

Bhupinder Kumar, during the tour, visited construction sites of 200 bedded district hospital, make shift building of GMC Udhampur, as well the library and took first hand appraisal of all the ongoing works there.

He directed the concerned executing agencies for expediting oace of works on these projects and complete them in a time bound manner by way of deploying additional manpower and increasing number of shifts at the construction sites.

The Secretary also directed Principal GMC Udhampur to monitor the progress and regularly review these projects to ensure their smooth and seamless completion. He also emphasized to ensure that the makeshift college building of GMC is completed as per the given timeline of 15th August in all respect so that the college is ready to receive 1st batch of MBBS students in September.

Later, Secretary, Health also chaired a meeting with officers and faculty members of GMC Udhampur and stressed upon them to render their services with utmost care, compassion and professional integrity, keeping patient care at the core. He impressed upon the medical fraternity for improving public service delivery through various schemes and leveraging the latest online initiatives of Health and Medical Education Department.

In the meanwhile, Bhupinder Kumar also visited the construction site of Boys Hostel building and inspected the ongoing pace of work. He directed the concerned officers to expedite the progress on work for timely completion of the residential accommodations with decent facilities so that the students are facilitated.

Among others, Director Coordination New Medical Colleges, Joint Director Planning, H&ME, Chief Medical Officer and other officers besides executing agencies were accompanying the Secretary.
