Varsity takes lead in holding this globally acclaimed competition
A globally acclaimed competition among researchers and academia popularly known as 3MT, Three-Minute Thesis Competition was held at Central University of Jammu wherein young researchers participated, today.
The 3MT is evolving as one of the best practices of the Central University of Jammu as the Varsity has taken a lead in registering with the University of Queensland to organise 3MT which has been adopted by 200 universities across the globe. The 3MT is a global level competition which was developed by the University of Queensland, Australia with the objective of providing a platform to young researchers to present to effectively explain research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience in THREE MINUTES with only one PowerPoint slide.
Young enthusiastic researchers of Humanities and Social Sciences stream from Central University of Jammu and several other universities participated in the 3 MT.
Around thirty young researchers from different disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences had registered who were adjudicated by a panel of judges, Prof. Vijaylakshmi Brara, from The Royal Global University, Guwahati and Prof. Suparn Sharma, Dean, School of Business Studies, SMVD University.
The first prize with a cash money of Rs 5,000 was won by Abhigya Langeh NSS from CUJ, second with prize money of Rs 3000 was won by Shivalika Sharma, SBS, SMVDU and the Third prize with cash money of Rs. 1500/- was won by Surbhi Ghai, MBA(HR)from CUJ. In addition to that, the consolation prize was won by Karuna DOE, CUJ, Mridul, DOE, CUJ and Suhail, Social work, CUJ
In her address, Prof. VijayLakshmi Brara appreciated the nature and level of competition and gave pertinent suggestions to 3MT presenters besides appreciating their commendable effort. Prof. Suparn Sharma observed the level of understanding of scholars and praised the growing research ecosystem of the university. Prof. Deepak Pathania, Dean Research shared the impetus given to research and introduction of Indian Knowledge Systems as mandatory courses at all levels in the university. In his address, the Registrar, Prof. Yashwant Singh highlighted how CUJ has been granted prestigious projects by various funding agencies and 3 MT is a right step to enhance research competence of scholars as envisioned by the Vice Chancellor.
In the introductory remarks, ,Prof. Vandana Sharma Dean, School of Languages and Convener of CUJ 3 MT gave an overview of the history, genesis and objective of 3 MT and stated that 3 MT is evolving under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain who is making all possible effort to develop robust research ecosystem in CUJ.
