The consultant from JKTPO presented a PowerPoint presentation on the draft district Export action plan, detailing both hard and soft measures required to increase exports of products identified under ODOP, i.e. Basmati Rice, and products identified under District as Export Hub, i.e. Mango, Dairy Products, Sozni and Stapple.

An extensive discussion was held on the increase of production of Basmati rice and mango, besides the action plan to make these products of international quality so as to increase the income of local potential exporters.

The Deputy Commissioner Jammu directed the stakeholder departments to provide short- and long-term action plans with specific targets for next three years of identified product to DIC for its incorporation in the plan.

She said that the plan must include strategies to increase production, quality of products, more FPO formation, cluster zones for export to be identified, departmental schemes be implemented and market linkages, good packaging techniques etc to increase export from the district.

The DC also suggested replacing Phulkari with Sozni and stapple which have greater export potential.

The DDC Jammu instructed the committee members to go through the draft export action plan prepared by JKTPO and make some valuable suggestions to be included in the draft action plan before it is submitted to the Committee.

She directed JKTPO to share a format with DIC which will be shared with all departments for getting realistic data and plan.

The Committee will meet again to finalize the plan after incorporating suggestions from the various stakeholders.
