Over 800 unemployed Youth Participate, 452 Candidates Shortlisted for Available Vacancies

District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today inaugurated a one day Job Fair/Employment Mela organized by District Employment and Counselling Centre in SKC Govt. Degree College. As many as 24 firms (agencies) participated in the Fair to make selections for more than 400 vacancies among the unemployed Youth of the District.

Around 800 unemployed youth participated in the job fair of which 452 candidates were shortlisted for the available vacancies offered by 24 Employers/Job Providers.

The Job Seekers from Mendhar, Mandi, Surankote, Poonch enthusiastically participated in the event and submitted their resumes to the participating companies.

The Government Departments also set up their stalls for providing awareness regarding different self employment schemes.

The District Development Commissioner interacted with the job seekers and job providers during the program. He emphasized the importance of the event and said it would serve as an excellent platform for introducing skilled manpower of District Poonch to the Job Providers.

Besides, he said that such programmes bridge the gap between Job Seekers and Job providers. He also advised the Deputy Director Employment and Counseling Centre Poonch to make it a regular feature so as to mitigate the unemployment in the District.

Earlier, Deputy Director Employment, Mohammad Rafiq presented a welcome address and enumerated the importance of the Job Fair/Employment Mela . He urged the youth to avail the opportunity of employment provided on a single platform through job providers. He urged the youth to get registered with online portal www.jakemp.nic.in and informed them that the portal has also been integrated with NCS portal www.ncs.gov.in, which has 1.92 lakh employers onboard. He also informed that more than 50 thousand unemployed youth from J&K have already registered themselves on the platform.

Elaborating further, the Deputy Director Employment Poonch appealed to the youth to avail the benefit of self employment schemes and become successful entrepreneurs rather than the job seeker.

The Principal SKC GDC Poonch, Dr.Jasbir Singh, while interacting with the candidates, stressed upon opting for job oriented courses for achieving success in their careers. He encouraged them to give their best in the interviews and wished them well for their future endeavors.

The unemployed youth also expressed their gratitude to the District Administration Poonch, especially to the District Employment and Counseling Centre for organizing this job fair and bringing employers to their doorsteps.

The other officers present were GM DIC Poonch, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Principal SKC GDC Poonch, Dr.Jasbir Singh, Principal GDC Mendhar, Dr. Mohd Azam, Principal GDC Mandi, LDM JK Bank Poonch, Ashutosh Koul, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Azmat Hussain Besides this, Incharge Career Counselling Centre, Prof Fateh Mohd Abbasi, Incharge Career Counselling Cell, GDC Mendhar, Prof Murtaza Ahmed, Incharge Career Counselling Cell, GDC Surankote, Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq, Employment Officer, Suja Ahmed Bhat, Young Professional,

Harman Simran Singh & representatives from different Departments and Local Self Help Groups were present in the event.
