The Weekly Block Diwas public outreach programme was today organized here at Block Sathra- Mandi here under the chairmanship of Chairperson District Development Council Poonch, Tazim Akhter and District Development Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary.

Extending a warm welcome, the people of the area greeted the DDC chairperson and Deputy Commissioner with garlands and flower bouquets, thanking them for coming and holding the Block Diwas program in their area.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner along with Chief Horticulture Officer Poonch, Sanjeev Kumar and AGMO planning & marketing, visited the Ultra density Orchard of Sarfraz Ahmed, a resident of Chaktroo. The DC appreciated Ahmed’s hard work and dedication towards his orchard.

The DC also stressed the need to create awareness among farmers about government schemes so that they can avail the benefits and improve their livelihoods. He asked the CHO to generate mass awareness about the scheme so that maximum farmers can benefit from it.

During the Block Diwas programme, a range of public issues were raised by PRIs and locals. They sought speedy estimation of Capex works, issuance of pending work orders under 14 FC, up-gradation of Government High School Gali Pindi and adequate teaching staff for the Institution, issuing BBL cards to deserving people, widening of Salonia to Gali Pindi road, Geo Tagging of genuine people under PMAY, providing free of cost plantation to the public from the horticulture department, black topping of BandiKama Khan upper to High School Gali Pindi road with culvert, construction of the main road from Phagla to Morban, blacktopping of Kalani bridge to Kehnu upper road, Kalani bridge to Gagarkote road, construction of Mohalla Manto to Kalani road, and building of Anganwari centres for Kehno and Kalani village, among others.

The DC assured the public that tendering and allotment of all works would be completed this month and all the panchayat level works would also be started simultaneously.

The DC directed the DSWO to make the public aware about the Social Security schemes of the government and extend the benefits of the pension to all eligible persons.

Responding to the demands raised by the public, the Deputy Commissioner issued instructions to all user agencies and executing agencies to complete the works, including the blacktopping work in a time bound manner. He directed the officers to work in coordination to ensure equitable development.

Stressing on improving the healthcare services in health institutions, the DC asked the CMO to streamline the working of OPD for the ease of public.

He further directed for augmentation of water supply and asked the concerned officer to expedite the work on the Fatehpur JJM Scheme.

Taking cognizance of the complaint about poor blacktopping work on Bandi Kama Khan upper to Government High School Gali Pindi road, the DDC assured to conduct an inquiry. He further assured to start the construction of Motorable bridge from Sathra to Dhara on priority.

The DDC chairperson expressed confidence that all works would be completed within the time frame, with continuous efforts from the District Development Council and district administration.

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need to create awareness among the public and PRIs about drug abuse and its ill effects to make the district Nasha Mukt (drug-free).

BDC Member Sathra, Fareeda Begum, ACD, Abid Hussain Shah, CEO (PDA), Dr.Mohd.Tanveer, PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa, ACP, Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti, CMO, Anees Altaf Nabi, Xen PWD( R&B), Yasir Bashir Khicloo, Xen REW, Hamid Iqbal, Xen PDD, Aftab Hussain, AEE REW, Mohd.Khalid, AEE Jal Shakti, AD Food, Ranjeet Singh, Tehsildar Mandi, Shazad Latief Khan, DSWO, Mohinder Paul, Tehsildar Loran Azam Khan, CDPO Mandi, Adil Khurshid, Chief Horticulture officer, Sanjeev Kumar, BDO Sathra, Faisal Nazir, besides other sectoral officers, executive engineers, PRIs and locals were present on the occasion.
