DC Udhampur reviews working of Education department

Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Sachin Kumar Vaishya today chaired a meeting of officers and representatives of local NGOs here in Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex to review the functioning of the Education department in the district .

At the outset, Chief Education Officer Geetu Bangotra apprised the meeting about the education profile of the district.

The DC took zone wise review of the working feducation department and directed the concerned to take steps to minimize dropout rate in schools with the help of NGOs by conducting counselling of parents and students.

The DC urged the concerned officers to monitor the students’ learning outcomes by conducting random inspection of schools, take tests of students after every three months to check student learning of the previous class and if student performance is low then conduct remedial class to fill the learning gap.

Representatives of NGOs suggested holding regular Parent Teacher Meets in all Government schools and requested the DC to institute Cluster or Block level best teacher Award to encourage the teaching community. The DC emphasized upon the officers to further improve the quality of teaching learning process. He stressed upon the importance of regular and effective monitoring of functioning of the schools for better outcome and instructed the ZEOs to conduct frequent visits to schools in their respective areas
