In a disappointing turn of events for the aspiring youth of Karnah, the Civil Service Library, an initiative undertaken by then SDM Bilal Mohi ud Din Bhat and currently DC Kulgam, has remained closed for the past three years. This library was established to support the local youth in their preparations for prestigious exams such as IAS, IPS, and KAS. Due to the remote location of Karnah, these young individuals were required to travel to Srinagar and other areas to access study resources.
The library was initially funded through the Back to Village program, which allocated funds from the local panchayats of Karnah. Raja Waqar Khan, the General Secretary of the Civil Society Karnah, expressed his disappointment regarding the prolonged closure. He acknowledged that the initiative held immense potential for the youth of Karnah but lamented that the tehsil administration had failed to keep the library operational for the past three years.
Danihal Mir, a Social Activist, expressed gratitude towards the then SDM for his efforts in establishing the library. However, Mir also voiced his sadness at witnessing the closure of the library, with no apparent action taken to address the situation. Both Khan and Mir urged the district administration to intervene promptly and reopen the library for the benefit of the local youth.
The closure of the Karnah Civil Service Library has led to a significant inconvenience for the aspiring civil servants who now lack a dedicated space for study and access to relevant study materials. As the youth in Karnah continue to prepare for competitive exams, they face additional challenges due to the unavailability of essential resources and the need to travel long distances for their studies.
In light of the community’s concerns and the library’s importance to the educational aspirations of the local youth, the people of Karnah have appealed to the district administration to address the matter urgently. They hope that swift action will be taken to reopen the library and reinstate this valuable resource for the benefit of the aspiring civil servants in the region.
