District & Police Administration Budgam declares 05 villages as Drug Free / Nasha Mukt

 The District and Police Administration Budgam has declared five villages viz. Dandoosa, Bonen, Hardwail, Naroo and Khag as drug free/ Nasha Mukt villages of Budgam under Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.

These villages have achieved 100% drug-free status with the concerted efforts of District Administration, Police Administration, teachers of School Education department, field functionaries of Social Welfare department, PRIs and convergent community participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo said a multi-pronged strategy involving strict enforcement, registration of FIRs, mass awareness generation, community mobilisation and destruction of poppy cultivation etc. have been used for implementing Nasha Mukht Abhiyan in Budgam.

He said the District Administration is committed to work towards drug-free J&K mission of Honourable LG Manoj Sinha ji and shall implement the same in Budgam.

SSP Budgam, Tahir Gilani said that District police in close coordination with civil administration is keeping strict vigil over drug menace and strict penal action under law shall be taken against those involved in spreading this menace.

Recently 48 cases have been registered and 69 persons have been arrested towards this end, he added.
