Secretary Tourism inaugurates function

SRINAGAR, APRIL 28: Secretary, Tourism, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today remarked that the upcoming 3rd Tourism Working Group (TWG) meet being held under the auspices of G20 Summit is a momentous occasion for entire Jammu and Kashmir as such kind of important global event will be held for the first time here.  The Secretary made these remarks while delivering the keynote address during the Model G-20 Summit (Youth Inception Meet) at SKICC here.  The Summit was organised by Directorate of Tourism Kashmir and held as a replica of original 3rd Tourism Working Group Meet to be held at SKICC in the last week of May this year.  Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abid remarked that Kashmir is famous for its tremendous beauty and hospitality across the globe and the upcoming TWG meet will add to its charm and magnificence. He added that the Tourism sector forms an important part of GSDP of our UT and most of the people are directly or indirectly associated with it.  While addressing the large number of University students who replicated delegates of participating countries at the event, the Secretary said that it is remarkable occasion for students participating in the Summit as they while get taste of what global events look like. He added that it will be their lifetime experience as they will get taste of what it means to represent a country.  The Secretary further said that this Model G-20 Summit is also a big opportunity for professional and personal intellectual growth of participating students.  Dr. Abid during the address also spoke on the importance of sustainable tourism and its role in promoting economic growth and development. He emphasized the need to balance tourism with environmental conservation and preservation of local culture and heritage. He also urged the students to play an active role in promoting tourism in their communities and to be ambassadors for sustainable tourism practices.  Director Tourism Kashmir, Faz Lul Haseeb in his address spoke about the importance of Model G-20 Summit. He highlighted that this replication of original G-20 Summit is an opportunity for the young students to hone their public speaking intellect.  Subject experts from Central University of Kashmir, IUST, Kashmir University and others also spoke on the occasion and spoke in length about the importance of G-20 meet.  Pertinently, the Model G-20 Summit was organised by Directorate of Tourism Kashmir in students from Central University of Kashmir, IUST, Kashmir University, Institute of Hotel Management, and others participated. and replicated as delegates of participating nations.
