Karnah Kupwara: International Women’s Day is celebrated every year for highlighting the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s aim is to get global attention on the state of women in terms of gender equality, stereotypes and discrimination. It’s goal is to make the world more diverse, equitable and inclusive for women.
This year International Women’s Day was also organised at Amrohi on the Line of Control under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade to create awareness about the rights; a women owns and to give them more opportunities like everyone else is getting. A walkathon was organised from Badi Mohalla, Amrohi to Chhatkariyan in which an approx 82 women participated. Post walkathon, awareness lectures were also organised on women empowerment and development of women by the Mrs Naushada Bano, BDC Tithwal and Ms Anzam Altaf (student of AGS Tithwal) d/o Mr Altaf Poswal. The participants were from nearby areas of Amrohi, Parada, Panjtara, Taad, Padna, Channipora, Pingla Haridal. A few women also came forward and spoke their heart out.
Such events leave an affirmative strike on the locals thereby ensuring a change in their perspective as well as perception. Despite of all these villages being on the line of control and experiencing the topographical vagaries of the region, the attendance of such a large gathering proved that the local populace feels proud and elated. They are more confident in sharing their views and experiences with the society thereby coming out with solutions. Post culmination of the event a light refreshment was also catered for the complete gathering.
