Karnah Kupwara: Today, that is, 7th March, 2023 Government Degree College Tangdhar organised a Two Days Work on Women Empowerment and Implementation of Female Centric Schemes, under the aegis of Mission Shakti and Celebration of G20 Presidency in India. The programme is being organised in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women Kupwara. DDC Member, Karnah Constituency, Ms. Advocate Najma Hamid was the Chief Guest of the event. Besides, PRIs and ICDS workers of Block Tangdhar were special invitees in the inaugural ceremony of the event.
The event began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Mr. Zohaib Rafiq, a 4th semester student of the College. Prof. Tariq Ahmad Shah in his Welcome address formally welcomed the Chief Guest and other guests, including the PRIs, ICDS workers, officials from Frontline Departments like Health, Social Welfare, etc. to the event. He also thanked the patron of the event, Prof Haroon Rashid Boked for allowing to organise the programme. He also thanked Coordinator of the workshop, Dr Parvaiz Ahmad and his for putting their efforts in organising the programme. Later, Dr Parvaiz Ahmad in his introductory remarks talked in great deal about the purpose of organising the event. He also highlighted the role of PRIs and ICDS workers in decimation of information regarding different female-centric schemes among people particularly belonging to the poor and illiterate families. Dr Parvaiz also highlighted the role of Mission Shakti volunteers of the college, who have been active from the last 3 months in different initiatives including door-to-door campaigns, carrying out rallies, designing posters, etc. in creating awareness about women empowerment and schemes by different departments of the Government. Later on, Chief Guest of the event in her speech thanked the organisers of the college for inviting her as the Chief Guest of the event and also congratulated them for organising the event. She reiterated the role of Government in uplifting the status of women as provided by the Constitution of India in the Directive Principles of State Policy. In her speech she talked about in great detail about schemes, women can get benefited from. In his Presidential address, Principal of the College, Prof Haroon Rashid Boked talked about the importance of women empowerment and role of students, PRIs and ICDS workers in spreading the information of various female centric schemes.
Finally, the inaugural session concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr Sharafat Ali Khan, who thanked all the guests, including, the Chief Guest and officials of departments, PRIs, ICDS workers, students, NCC, NSS and Mission Shakti volunteers for their role in organising the programme. The session concluded with a cup of tea.

Raja Waqar, Chairman, Civil Society Karnah who was invited as a special Guest on the occasion talked about in great detail about importance of women Education in uplifting the status of women in society.
Technical Session:
Zahoor Ahmad, representing ICDS Department talked about different schemes of the Department for Empowerment of Women.
Post Lunch Session:
A Documentary was played for the audience which
Lt. Col. Kamini Pokhria from Indian army in her speech talked about celebrating the uniqueness of women, rather than competition with the mem.
Captain Dr Komal in her speech talked about different Women who have achieved marvels in different fields in India.
The programme concluded with High Tea and group photography with the participants of the programme.
