Karnah Kupwara : 7th Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade at Chhamkote on 18th Jan 2023. Initially, the event was scheduled to be conducted on 14 Jan 2023 but due to bad weather conditions for continuous three days it got postponed and was conducted today. The event was organised to promote esprit-de-corps amongst the veterans of the Karnah Valley. A total number of 224 ESM to include four veer naris & eight war widows attended the said event. Medical cell, Grievances cell & CSD counters also formed part of the said event. The president of the ESM Cell Subedar Abdul Quyoom Mir informed the gathering about the various benefits and emoluments for Veterans of Karnah Valley. The medical cell under OC FSC checked 48 ESM and also distributed important & necessary medicines. The CSD counters also had a decent sale. The cultural event included Gujjari & Pahadi Songs by Pahadi & Cultural group which included local youths and performances by AGS students.
The Chief Guest, Brig NK Dhas, Commander Shakti Vijay Brigade then addressed all the ESM present in the event and congratulated them for their courage, dedication and sacrifices done. He emphasised on the need for co-operation amongst the civilians and security forces and further advised them to shoulder their responsibility of guiding the locals towards the path of prosperity and success. The ‘Veer Naris’ & a few war veterans were also felicitated on the occasion. The ESM expressed their sincere gratitude for this interactive platform where they could highlight their problems and grievances freely and where they were educated about the on-going situations.
This interaction boosted their confidence and they vowed to provide wholehearted and complete assistance in the path towards peace and success. The event culminated with group photographs followed by lunch.The large attendance of ESM exhibited the faith which they repose in the Indian Army. While the day vastly reinforced the existing bond between the Indian Army and ESM, it also generated an assurance that grievances of ESM would be addressed in a speedy manner.
