Joint Director (Kashmir), Youth Services and Sports Department, Bashir Ahmed, after inaugurating the refresher courses in four games on Tuesday, advocated these courses as integral towards keeping trainers, coaches and teachers abreast with latest skills and techniques of sports world. “To remain updated with the latest know-how of games and in order to perform their jobs in a befitting manner, it is imperative to involve the field staff of the Department of Youth Services and Sports in such courses”, he maintained. JD YSS was addressing a gathering of trainees which included PETs, PEMS and REKs at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports here. He was accompanied by many senior officers of the Department on the occasion.
A total of 80 trainees of Srinagar District are taking part in the week long refresher course who are being imparted training in the disciplines of Hockey, Hand Ball, Fencing and Athletics by a panel of experts and resource persons from the Department. The trainers include Azad Ahmed and Rauf Khan(Athletics), Jamsheed Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed (Hand Ball), Razia Sultana and Niyaz Ahmed (Fencing) besides Mohammad Shafi Wani and Iqbal Ahmed (Hockey).
Speaking on the occasion, JD YSS said such programmes are essential for helping trainers gain knowledge and wisdom as it further adds to their skills for the larger interest of sportspersons of the UT. He added that such orientation programmes are organized every year in different games by the Department Of Youth Services & Sports.
Earlier, Muzaffar Ahmed, a senior PEM of the Department imparted oath to the participants of the training programme for marinating discipline and to show a professional approach during the entire period of the courses.
