BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 12: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Baramulla in collaboration with Govt Degree College for Boys Baramulla today organised a day long “District Youth Convention” in the college auditorium, here.
The event marked an overwhelming and enthusiastic participation of young minds from different educational institutions across the district.
The programme was organised as part of Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with special focus on Yuva Utsav and Yuva Samvad- India@2047 which aims to rekindle the spirit of patriotism for developing a new India at the Centenary celebration of Independence.
SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat was the chief guest whereas President Municipal Council Baramulla Touseef Raina participated as the guest of honour at the event. Director NYK Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Nissar Ahmad was also present in the convention as special guest.
On the occasion, an array of activities were conducted which mainly focused to showcase the talent of youth in different domains. The students participated in painting, poetry, photography among other thrilling competitions which evoked louder applause from the concerned quarters.
The chief guest in his address complimented the participants and termed the youth as the pillars of society. He said that the young generation constitutes the core of our country and emphasized upon them to identify their roles for building a ‘New and Developed India’.
While terming the drug abuse as the most potent threat to the social and harmonious fabric of our society, the SSP added that eradicating this menace is our collective responsibility and every stakeholder should come forward to play their part. He also said that the need of the hour is to provide appropriate platforms so that our budding blooms can channelize their potential in a right and productive way.
Deputy Director NYK, Hakeem Abdul Aziz presented the concluding address and gave a brief sketch of activities being carried out by the Sangathan for the youth. He also presented the vote of thanks to all the participants.
At the conclusion of the convention, special prizes and mementos were distributed among the best performing contestants who participated in different competitions.
