Police arrests 06 persons and seizes 06 vehicles in Awantipora

September 26: Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Awantipora have arrested 06 persons and seized 06 vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

Police Station Awantipora received an information about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from river Jehlum at Padgampora Awantipora. Accordingly, a police party raided the specific spot and seized six vehicles (Dumpers) and also arrested six accused drivers with illegally extracted sand. They have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Dar resident of Lathpora, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Patalbagh Pampore, Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat resident of Patalbagh Pampore, Sajjad Ahmad Bhat resident of Wouan Khrew, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Nilnag Chadoora and Bilal Ahmad Ganie resident of Patalbagh Pampore. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 209/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation set into motion.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
