Srinagar Sep 13: J&K is one among the 75 iconic locations of the pan-India Bike Ride which was flagged off by Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on 9th of the current month. The Fit India Freedom Moto Ride Bikers are riding a distance of more than 18,000 kilometers. Ten women from India along with the four international riders of different occupations are taking part in this event.
The Fit India Freedom Moto Riders on entering the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir were received very warmly by Director Youth Services & Sports Subash C Chhibber, JD (Kashmir) Bashir Ahmed, JD (Jammu) Atul Kumar, Deputy Director (Central) Jatinder Mishra, District Youth Services & Sports Officers and field officials at enrooted districts i.e. Pathankot Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban, Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar and Ganderbal.
Different and very unique efforts were put in by the field officials of YSS which included REKs, PETs, PEMS, Lecturers etc to welcome and see-off the contingent at different entry and exit points. The riders were garlanded and offered water, refreshment, snacks etc at different spots by the officials of the Department.
The contingent after staying at Srinagar for Monday night was flagged-off from the banks of famous Dal Lake by the District Development Commissioner Srinagar towards Ganderbal during wee hours on Tuesday.
The bikers have expressed their utmost joy over the great hospitality and rosy welcome they received from the UT Government and have appreciated the efforts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K in this regard.
District Youth Services & Sports Offices across J&K received a tremendous support from the concerned District Administrations at all the enrooted destinations in organizing the programmes related to the ride.
