KARGIL, JULY 21, 2022:
Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today visited Silmo and inaugurated various irrigation projects under Irrigation and Flood Control Department at Grong and Lakha of Silmo area and also took an assessment of various development projects.

Executive Councilor Tourism Er Phunsok Tashi, Executive Councilor Health Mohsin Ali, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Superintending Engineering R&B Nisar Ahmed Bagh, Superintending Engineering PHE and I&FC Maqbool Hussain, Executive Engineers of I&FC, PHE, R&B and other concerned officers accompanied the CEC during the tour.

At Silmo, the CEC inaugurated newly constructed and remodeled irrigation canals of Bari Khul Kanal Lakha and Grong Silmo each constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore 71 lakh and 2 crore 65 lakhs respectively.

The village representatives thanked the CEC and district administration for taking all measures in completing two vital projects that will be very beneficial for the irrigation purpose of cultivable land of the two villages.

On the occasion, CEC Khan, who is also Councilor of the area, thanked I&FC Department for ensuring quality works within the stipulated timeline.

He further assured that the reservoirs of the villages will be maintained as well and extension of the canal will be further explored in the future.

Regarding link roads of Lakha and Grong village, the CEC said the tendering work will be done soon and blacktopping and maintenance works of Grond and Lakha road will be done at the earliest.

Khan expressed dissatisfaction over the construction work of Baltum-Lakha link road and asked the PRI members and villagers to find ways and means to convince landholders for construction works.

The PRI members and villagers forwarded demands regarding road connectivity, blacktopping works of existing link roads, extension of irrigation canal and restoration of a community tank. The CEC assured of timely intervention.

The CEC also visited under construction site of Medical Centre at Grong Silmo. He was informed that along with the access road work is going smoothly. Further works on employees’ quarter, community centre and guest house are going in full swing and will be completed at the earliest.
