May 24: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs and taking stringent action against drug Peddlers, Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
A Police Party led by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam during naka checking at Srandoo crossing intercepted three persons riding a Scooty bearing registration number JK03H-6702. During search, 29 bottles of liquor (Rum) and 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Bogund and Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Qadir Dar resident of Naibasti Anantnag. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. However, one drug peddler Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Bogund managed to flee from the spot.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 63/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated. Efforts are on to nab the absconded drug peddler.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
