FacebookTwitterWhatsappTelegram

24 April 2022 : Katwar and Dabpal are the remotest and farthest villages of Kupwara district which are located just 4 kms away from the line of control at an altitude in excess of 11000 feet. Even though, the summer is at the door steps of Machhal sector much earlier than usual, the roads and tracks leading to these villages have opened just two weeks ago.

People of these villages are deprived of many facilities of the modern era. The environmental conditions are very harsh but the indomitable spirit, resilience and determination of these villagers pushes them to survive against all odds. The villagers have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country

To mark the holy month of Ramadhan, the Indian Army hosted traditional Iftaar Milan for these villages on 24 April. 50 villagers including the Sarpanches attended. The deep sense of oneness between the soldiers and the locals was a spectacle to see as they broke fast together.

A point to note is that the local Army units are organising numerous Iftaar Milans so as to cover each and every village in Macchal Sector. Also Katwar is a Pushto Speaking village.
