Div Com Jammu assures timely redressal of demands

JAMMU, APRIL 23: In a major relief to common public, the Safai Karamchari Union which had called for indefinite strike from April 24; have called off their strike, in public interest, after lengthy discussion held with Divisional Commissioner Jammu.

The Decision was taken during late night negotiations held in Divisional  Commissioner  Office Jammu. Director Urban Local Bodies was also present.

All these Safai Karamcharies are working under various Urban Local Bodies of Jammu province.

The Union president alongwith other members today met with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer and apprised him about their long pending demands. The Union has also submitted a memorandum of demands to the Divisional Commissioner.

The major demands were regularisation under SRO 64, implementation of minimum wages Act, implementation of old pension scheme etc.

The Div Com gave patient hearing to their demands and said that a meeting will be held within 10 days with higher authorities to review the demands, which are genuine, for their redressal in a time-bound manner.
